Every contestant must complete the following

Terms and Conditions

  • A maximum of 6 members can be registered per team however 5 members on a rope at any one time (one substitute). To keep the competition fun and fair, a maximum team weight of 600kgs on a rope at one time.

  • Competition divisions include: Men’s, Mixed and Schools.

  • Mixed Division is for male and female adults with up to 2 males at a time on a rope in a mixed team. The School division is open to male high school students.

  • The nature of the Canterbury-Bankstown Says NO to DV Tug O’ War Cup will be non-competitive and a fun day to support the anti-domestic violence campaign.

  • The overall winner of the Canterbury-Bankstown Say NO to DV Tug O’ War Cup will be the team which wins the final Tug O’ War match. Judges decision is final.

  • Participants must support the purpose of the day by saying NO to domestic violence and be willing to proactively ending domestic violence through their own actions.

  • Clothing: Sports clothing is recommended including appropriate sports shoes (no spiked shoes can be worn). Shoes must be worn at all times. Your own gloves are permitted on the day for protection for your hands. Businesses, schools and organisations are encouraged to wear their uniform (if appropriate) or logos to promote their support to the campaign message.

  • By signing the waiver form, you give consent for your photograph or video to be taken on the day and used in the media or future promotional material for Canterbury Bankstown Council or their agents. You also understand that it is your responsibility to advise your organisation of this, if you are representing them.

  • Teams must arrive at 11.30am to sign in, if this is an issue, please discuss with the event organiser prior to the event.

  • Terms and conditions are current as of 1st July 2024, however, may change without notice, at the discretion of the organisers.

  • In the event of wet weather, team captains will be contacted to be advised of any contingency plans. The event is indoors so we don’t see this to be an issue.

  • Team captains will be responsible for advising all team members of any updates or correspondence from the event organisers.

Rules

  • The Tug O’ War winner is the team to pull their opposition team’s first member past the cone/marking, indicated by the judge (Judge’s discretion on the day).

  • Anchor man can loop rope around one shoulder to secure rope, at their own risk and discretion. No knot is permitted on the rope end.

  • All team members are to remain on their feet at all times, no hands are persistently allowed on the ground apart from the anchor man who is permitted to use one hand on the ground.

  • If a player falls to the ground they are given a caution. Each team is allowed two cautions per team (not player), per match before it is classed as a loss.

  • The judge’s decision is final. The competition will begin and finish on the judge’s command.

  • A team member is permitted to pull for only one team during a competition.

  • Teams may NOT ‘heel in’ or deliberately dig feet into the ground.

  • Team members must go back with rope when pulling.

  • Up to 5 team members can be on the rope at one time

  • Mixed Division: Up to 2 males on the rope at any one time.

Risk Warning:

Persons participating in the "Canterbury-Bankstown" Say NO to DV Tug O’ War Cup do so at their own risk. There is an inherent risk of injury when participating in physical activity, including all elements of the Canterbury-Bankstown Say NO to DV Tug O’ War Cup. Canterbury Bankstown Council accepts no responsibility for any injury that may be suffered by participants during any activity associated with the event. This indemnity is reduced proportionately by any act or omission of the organiser or their agents.

I unconditionally release Canterbury-Bankstown Council and their agents from all claims, suits, demands, actions or proceedings (whether at law, in equity or arising under any statute) arising out of or in connection with an act, default or omission of me or any of my Agents.

I agree not to sue or make any claim or demand against Canterbury- Bankstown Council or their agents in respect of matters covered by this release.

I indemnify Canterbury- Bankstown Council and their agents from and against all actions, claims, costs, losses, expenses and damages (including the costs of defending or settling any action or claim) in respect of: Loss of, loss of use of, or damage to property of mine; or personal injury (including death) or illness to any person or loss of, loss of use of, or damage to any property; resulting from or by reason of anything done or omitted to be done by me arising out of my participation in the Canterbury-Bankstown Say NO to DV Tug O’ War Cup.

My liability to indemnify Canterbury- Bankstown Council and their agents is reduced proportionally to the extent that a negligent act or omission of Canterbury- Bankstown Council or its employees has contributed to the injury, damage or loss.

Waiver: As a condition of participation in the Canterbury-Bankstown Say NO to DV Tug O’ War Cup, I agree that:

I have read and understood the warning set out above.

I have read and understood the conditions of entry set out in this waiver form and I agree to comply with those conditions.

I will accept directions from those conducting and running the Canterbury-Bankstown Say NO to DV Tug O’ War Cup

Council, its officers or its agents have my consent to render medical treatment, if necessary.

In the event of certain injuries, I give permission for Council, its officers or its agents to engage Ambulatory care, and transport injured participants to hospital. I also accept that I will be responsible for bearing any costs involved with the ambulance transport or medical costs including hospital admissions.
