STUDENT WORK EXPERIENCE APPLICATION FORM

Thank you for your interest in gaining work experience at City of Canterbury Bankstown. Placements are subject to availability operational capacity, and approval. Applications are reviewed during scheduled quarterly intake periods only. Please ensure all sections are completed and required documents uploaded.

PLACEMENT INFORMATION

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible you must be:

  • Currently studying Year 10, 11 or 12

  • Undertaking a relevant qualification in an Australian education institution (TAFE, University or Duke of Edinburgh)

  • Undertaking a relevant qualification with a RTO (Registered Training Organisation)

Please note

  • We have four application intakes each calendar year, with set deadlines for submissions. All applications are reviewed during these scheduled periods. 

  • We cannot guarantee the availability of a suitable placement and due to the high volume of interest, we are unable to accommodate ad‑hoc requests and can only contact candidates who are actively being considered for available placements.

  • Preferred dates will be taken into consideration however placements will be offered according to business availability.

  • Work experience placements are for a maximum ninety 90 working days.

  • Students over 18 years will require a volunteer Working with Children Check (WWCC) clearance.

  • Copies of relevant documentation including: public liability, student placement form, placement form from an educational institute and course requirements for TAFE/University are required.

  • University/TAFE students will need to provide the course outline specifying work experience requirements including the required hours.

Note -  If you do not have Public Liability Insurance, Council can provide the relevant coverage.

Note - Letter needs to be on institution's letterhead. This is NOT where you upload the Student Placement Form.

WORKING WITH CHILDREN CHECK

If you are over 18 and looking to undertake a placement in a role that involves working with children, you will need to obtain a Working with Children Check number. 

Student Work Experience requests will not be accepted unless the Working with Children Check number can be verified by the City of Canterbury Bankstown.

COMPLIANCE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Please review the attached infographics, which provide a short overview of important policies, including the Workplace Health and Safety Policy, Drug and Alcohol Policy, Code of Conduct and Child Safe Code of Conduct.

Acknowledging that you have read and understood these policies is a requirement before commencing your work experience placement.

Note: If you are under 18 years of age, a parent or guardian must also sign your placement form.
