Terms and Conditions
This Battle of the beats (Competition) is subject to the following Terms and Conditions
Terms and Conditions. By entering, entrants accept these Terms and Conditions.
Entry:
The competition is free to enter.
You must reside and/or study in the Canterbury-Bankstown Local Government Area.
Councillors and employees of Canterbury-Bankstown Council (Council), and their immediate family members, are ineligible to enter.
Entrants can submit a maximum of one (1) entry in the Competition. If multiple entries are received by Council, only the first entry received will be eligible for consideration.
Entrants must produce an online addition by submitting youtube clip of their performance or face to face performance at Belmore Youth Resource Centre on the snapform Battle of the Beats submission form - Youth Week 2026.
All contestants must be aged between 12 to 24 years of age during the date of the battle of the beats performance, 17 April 2026;
All live and online audition entries must be received by 27 February 2026. Late entries will not be accepted
The live auditions will be held on Saturday at 1pm, 7 March 2026 at Belmore Youth Resource Centre, Building 3, 38-40 Redman Parade, Belmore;
Each performance will be allocated 5 minutes performance time with 15 minutes to set up and pack down;
Successful acts in the audition rounds will be invited to perform at the final round during Youth Week on 17 April between 6 - 7:30pm in Canterbury-Bankstown;
Acts must be able to perform in the final round on 17 April between 6-7:30pm in Canterbury-Bankstown;
All events are drug and alcohol free;
This event has been funded by Canterbury-Bankstown Council and NSW Government;
All performances will be judged by Canterbury-Bankstown Council staff and the Youth Advisory Working Group based on creativity, showmanship, musicality and crowd engagement;
There will be a total prize pool of over $2500; prizes will be awarded to the top performances as awarded by the judging panel. First Prize $1000, the other performances will receive $250 each. The Peoples choice award will receive $500. There will also be a people’s choice award. Decisions by the judging panel are final;
Abuse of supplied sound equipment or council property will disqualify the competing offenders, who will be held financially responsible for any damages caused; and
Performers are responsible for their own equipment, event organisers and Canterbury Bankstown Council will not accept liability for lost or damaged equipment. All items, instruments and equipment cases should be labelled and identified with band name.
Winning Performace
Winners will be announced via Council’s social media pages in May 2026.
The outcome of the Competition is final. No correspondence relating to the selection of winners will be entered into.
Winners will also go ahead to perform at the Battle of the beats intercouncil event in October 2026
Copyright and Moral Rights
By entering the Competition, entrants:
Warrant that they are the sole creator and owner of all copyright in their entry (music, lyrics, performance, etc.) or have obtained all necessary permissions for its use and submission.
Grant Council a royalty-free, perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive and irrevocable licence to use, reproduce, publish, adapt, and communicate their entry (in whole or in part) in any media for the purposes of promoting the Competition, Youth Week, and Council activities.
Consent to Council adapting, editing or modifying their entry as required for promotional purposes, including but not limited to social media, websites, print and broadcast.
Consent to Council using their name and likeness in connection with their entry and its promotion.
Consent to Council not always attributing them as the creator of the work and waive any right to take action against Council for failure to attribute, or for any adaptation or use of the entry that may otherwise infringe their moral rights, to the extent permitted by law.
Indemnify Council against any claims arising from breach of copyright or moral rights in their entry.
Privacy Consent
In submitting this form, I acknowledge that I am consenting to Canterbury-Bankstown Council (Council):
1. collecting my personal information collected in the Canterbury Bankstown Battle of the Beats Competition and
2. using my personal information for the Purposes of Promotion outlined below.
For the purposes of this consent, I acknowledge and accept that personal information includes any information or opinion about me from which my identity is apparent or can be reasonably ascertained. This may include, but is not limited to, my name, address, contact details, date of birth, photographs, images, video or audio recordings, and any other information I provide as part of my registration for participation in Canterbury Bankstown Battle of the Beats Competition.
I acknowledge that I am providing my personal information voluntarily and that if I choose not to provide the requested information, Council is unable to process my application/request to participate in the Canterbury Bankstown Battle of the Beats Competition.
I acknowledge that I may at any time request access to my personal information held by Council by applying through the appropriate channels.
Media Consent *
I acknowledge that in giving my consent:
I am authorising Council to make, use and/or retain the photographs, audio and/or video/s for the purpose of promoting the activities and functions of Council and for associated purposes such as television advertising, videos, brochures, forms, public relations displays, annual reports, press advertising, educational material, internal documents such as manuals, websites, certificates, strategic plans, posters, promotional material and other materials produced by Council (Purposes ofPromotion);
I acknowledge Council’s rights to use content featuring my image, physical likeness or sound captured at the Canterbury Bankstown Battle of the Beats Competition includes, but is not limited to, the right to:
a) use, re-use, publish, and re-publish that content;
b) alter, modify or otherwise change that content in any manner Council desires;
c) combine that content with textual matter and/or with other images and/or media; and
d) use that content for illustration, promotion, art, editorial, advertising, trade, publishing, or any other purpose whatsoever, for the Purposes of Promotion.
I acknowledge that Council may reproduce and publish images, audio and/or video/s in any form, in whole or in part, and distribute, publish or broadcast the photographs, audio and/or video/s by any medium including the Internet, television, cinema, CD-ROM or other multimedia medium for the Purpose of Promotion.
I acknowledge that my consent is in perpetuity and there is no time limit on the validity of the consent I am providing;
I acknowledge that there is no geographic limitation on where the photographs, audio and/or video/s may be distributed by Council for the Purposes of Promotion;
I acknowledge that in providing my consent I waive the right to inspect and/or approve any use of any images, physical likeness, audio and/or video/s before distribution, publication or broadcast by Council for the Purposes of Promotion;
I acknowledge that by providing my consent I am aware that when images, audio and/or video/s are published on public websites and social media channels, they can be discoverable online for a number of years, if not permanently. I further acknowledge that search engines may also cache or retain copies of published materials and that published materials can also be linked to by third parties;
I agree that I will not bring or maintain any claim, action or demand of any kind or nature whatsoever against Council, its successors, assignees, agents and licensees, , including but not limited to claims for breach or invasion of privacy, rights of publicity or other civil rights, or for any reason in connection with Council’s authorised use of my physical likeness, image or voice for the Purposes of Promotion.
I acknowledge and agree that all rights in and to any images, audio and/or video/s of me used by Council for the Purposes of Promotion, including the copyright, are and shall remain the sole property of Council, free and clear from any claims by me or anyone acting on my behalf;.
I acknowledge and accept that Council will not pay me for giving this consent;
I agree to notify an authorised staff member of Council in writing on the day of the Canterbury Bankstown Battle of the Beats Competition if I do not consent to my image, physical likeness or sound being captured. I acknowledge that in certain instances this may result in me being unable to participate in the Canterbury Bankstown Battle of the Beats Competition
Risk Acknowledgement and Indemnity Release
· I acknowledge that by participating in the Canterbury Bankstown Battle of the Beats Competition, I do so at my own risk.
· I acknowledge and accept that Council accepts no responsibility for any injury I may suffer during any activity associated with the Canterbury Bankstown Battle of the Beats Competition.
· I understand that the indemnity that I am providing in Council’s favour, may be reduced proportionately by any act or omission of Council, its successors, assignees, agents or licensees.
· By providing my consent, I unconditionally release Council, its successors, assignees, agents and licensees from all claims, suits, demands, actions or proceedings (whether at law, in equity or under statute) arising out of or in connection with any act, default or omission by me or my agents.
· I agree not to bring or pursue any claim or demand against Council or its agents in respect of matters covered by this release, except to the extent that any injury, damage or loss is caused by the negligence or wrongful act of Council or its agents.
· I further agree to indemnify Council and its agents against all actions, claims, costs, losses, expenses and damages (including legal costs) in respect of loss of, or damage to, property, or personal injury (including death) or illness to any person, but only to the extent that such actions, claims, costs, losses, expenses or damages are caused or contributed to by my own acts or omissions, or those of my agents, and not as a result of any negligence or wrongful act of Council or its agents arising out of my participation in the Canterbury Bankstown Battle of the Beats Competition.
Executed Consent
As a condition of participating the Canterbury Bankstown Battle of the Beats Competition, I confirm that I have read and understood these Terms and Conditions in full.
I agree to comply with all conditions of entry and to follow any directions given Council and or its agents conducting or running the event.
I consent to Council, its officers or agents providing medical treatment to me throughout the Canterbury Bankstown Battle of the Beats Competition if required.
In the event of injury, I authorise Council, its officers or agents to arrange ambulance care and transport to hospital if required and I accept that I will be responsible for any associated ambulance or medical costs, including hospital admission.
